This webinar was presented by <strong>Dr. Ashok Kumar Gupta,<\/strong> of UCLA and Vanderbilt University, USA. I will present how the image segmentation and histogram technique can better extract volcanic clouds and exclude non-volcanic clouds near the eruption site. The extracted umbrella clouds and associated umbrella top brightness temperature are then used to ascertain the umbrella top height using the real-time temperature profile after ensuring that the umbrella is optically thick and in thermal equilibrium with the environment.
